The birds are flocking to League City...and you should too!

The Texas Gulf Coast is a birder’s paradise, and some of the best birding in all of Texas starts right here in League City, a hot spot on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

Welcome Birders!

Experienced or beginner, League City offers some of the best birding opportunities in the U.S. and is an ideal birding hub for anyone looking to explore birding hotspots on the Upper Texas Coast.

Texas is home to more bird species than any other state.

Nearly 650 unique species and some of the most famous birding sites in the world are found in Texas.

Texas is known for its globally unique ecosystem with a diversity of habitats and wildlife. Gulf Coast habitats, like the ones in League City, are essential to the annual cycles of many species of breeding, wintering, and migrating waterfowl, wading birds, shorebirds, and songbirds. Thanks to an extensive network of nature and birding trails blanketing the entire state, residents and visitors seeking authentic wildlife experiences have plenty of options.

THE GREAT TEXAS COASTAL BIRDING TRAIL

The Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail is a system of trails, bird sanctuaries, and nature preserves stretching 500 miles across Texas. Made up of 43 trails and 308 birding sites, these state-designated areas offer some of the best birdwatching in the world. League City is situated on the Upper Texas Coast region of the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail. This region consists of 15 birding-trail “loops” in hotspots throughout Bay Area Houston, Galveston, High Island, Bolivar Peninsula, Anahuac, Beaumont, and extending all the way to the Louisiana border.
